Book Turns Kids Into Farmers
Friday, February 26, 2010 17:03 GMT
LIVERPOOL, England (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) One book is giving kids the dirt on whats really in the dirt.Organic Alice And The Wiggly Jiggly Worms (Sow & Grow) by Jenny Hall teaches kids the joys of organic farming, including what creepy crawlies help produce their produce.
Hall believes that if kids understand farming literally from the ground up, theyll grow up to plow their own farms, eat veggies, and be more environmentally conscious.
She feels that most kids books about farming really dont dig down deep into the reality of harvesting food.
Says Hall: Not one farming book I have read bears resemblance to what really happens on farms or is truly educational about food production. I wanted to give helpful hints on how kids can grow their own farm.
Though she does reveal the truth about veggies, kids can wait to find out whats in their hot dog weiners until theyre older.
