Beauty Pageants Are Picture Perfect?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The glitzy world of child beauty pageants isn’t as creepy as people think it is.

Susan Anderson spent three years taking pictures of mini beauty queens at pageants across America for a photo exhibit at Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles, running this Saturday (Oct. 24) to December 24.

High Glitz shows pageant girls in all their make-up, spray-tan glory, and though it was obvious to her that a lot of “artifice, rehearsing, and practice” goes into molding the baby beauties, Anderson says bits of “reality seeped out.”

She got to see the girls as they really are – children who are born to entertain and belong on the stage.

Anderson only encountered a few crazy pageant parents and says for the most part, moms and dads involved “just want the best for their kids.”

She feels she’s become an expert on everything pageantry, from the name of costume pieces to judges’ lingo.
