Breaking News: Glass Art Not Fragile

MILTON, W. Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Surprisingly, things made of glass aren’t all that fragile.

That’s the breaking news from Katie Trippe, organizer of the 2nd Annual Festival Of Glass presented by Blenko Glass Company this weekend (Aug. 7-8) in Milton, West Virginia.

Trippe says there’s a lot of wreckage involved in making glass art since giant slabs of glass are purposely broken down and pieced back together as masterpieces.

Trippe says the shattering is the best part of the process since everyone likes breaking things once in a while.

Though most assume they have to walk on eggshells around glass art, Trippe assures that’s not the case.

The Blenko Company rarely experiences breakage at their displays, even when large groups of curious school children come by to sneak a peak.

Trippe says it makes professional glass artists giggle when people tip-toe around their creations, which include elaborate glass Christmas ornaments, paperweights, and mobiles.
