Austin-based real estate agent Joe Dowdle has a permanent reminder of his time competing on Survivor: Tocantins.
After a cut on his knee became infected, Dowdle was air lifted out of Brazil for emergency surgery, leading to his departure from the reality show last Thursday (Apr. 9).
Dowdle says, They had to cut my knee open and drain it, and I got stitches too. Now I have a $1 million scar to remind me every day.
The only thing that comforts Dowdle is the fact that he wasnt voted off, though it also makes him mad at himself since, I would have hung longer if it werent for the injury. I was really trying to lay low, and I think I did.
Though his chance at the big prize is gone, Dowdle says he would be cool with letting fans take pictures with the scar that cost him the crown.
Survivor airs Thursdays on CBS.
