Switch Toilet Paper, Save Wads Of Cash

YONKERS, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A common household product is flushing $130 of your annual income down the toilet.

According to a new study by Consumer Reports, switching toilet paper brands could save a family of three roughly $130 per year.

Turns out store brands like Costco’s Kirkland Signature and Wal-Mart’s White Cloud cost half as much as name-brand TP, and score very good for softness and disintegration in consumer tests.

While Quilted Northern Ultra Plush costs 29 cents per 100 sheets, Kirkland Signature and White Cloud cost 12-15 cents, offering the most wipe for the buck.

Though pricier brands like three-ply Quilted Northern Ultra Plush claim to be thicker and stronger, consumer tests found that one-ply rolls were just as strong.

When it’s time to stock up on TP, consumers should buy in bulk, as buying a 12-pack can save roughly 20 cents per roll versus buying rolls individually.
