Buck Wolf’s Weird News Central: Bono Is Not The World’s Biggest Rocker

CUBA, Mo. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Bono’s trophy case is crammed with 22 Grammys and countless humanitarian awards, but don’t call him the “World’s Biggest Rocker.”

That honor belongs to a 42-foot, 1-inch behemoth on Route 66.

A couple in Cuba, Missouri, have put $22,000 into building a giant, 27,000-pound rocking chair, which is now celebrating its first birthday and coveted Guinness World Record certification.

But designing the “Route 66 Rocker” as the World’s Largest Chair was no easy feat.

At least 15 cities have fought for the honor in a competition that’s been rockin’ the States for more than half a century.

This week, Buck Wolf, chairman of About.com’s Weird News Central, unravels the history of giant furniture in size-matters America.

He says, “Certainly, we have a lot of big butts to accommodate, but it’s more about big egos.”
