’Life’ Lead No Longer Needs British Accent

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Life actor Damian Lewis may never need to use his native British accent again.

Lewis – who plays offbeat detective Charlie Crews on the hit drama series – is originally from London, but says he’s been loosing his English accent as he takes on more American roles.

He has adapted his own “American persona” to find acting work in the States, and as a result, has developed a pretty solid American accent which can be heard on Life.

Lewis is glad he’s found his American “rhythm” because it makes it easier for him to pull off his character’s rapid-fire lines without a hitch.

He’s become so comfortable with his Americanized accent, he’s even using it off camera.

He laughs, “I find myself on the weekends ordering a cup of coffee in an American accent!”

Life airs Wednesdays on NBC.
