In his book Gadget Nation: A Journey Through the Eccentric World of Invention (Sterling), Steve Greenberg tells the tales behind the weirdest, wackiest inventions ever made.
Some of the goofiest gadgets profiled in the book include bird diapers, slippers equipped with headlights, and a conedom, which protects your hand from melting ice cream.
According to Greenberg, to find real success with a strange product, you need to truly believe in your work.
He says, It takes five to ten years to get a product from an idea into the marketplace, so you have to have passion for it and thick skin because youll get people beating you down.
However, the struggling can pay off big time.
Greenberg says wacky products have made their inventors multi- millionaires, and the sillier the product, the more cash you can make.
He says, Silly products get free publicity because people talk about them.
