Talk Politics With Your Kiddies

BELOIT, Wis. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dads shouldn’t be afraid to talk politics with their young kids.

That’s the advice from radio host Mike Austin, of Radio Dad with Mike Austin and The Father Life podcast.

According to Austin, papas are quick to keep their little ones out of political conversations because they feel the tykes wouldn’t understand what’s going on.

However, Austin says it’s a “dad’s duty” to talk politics with his children because, “Parents are the first and best teachers for kids.”

Austin advises parents to watch political debates and speeches with their kids and have a family discussion afterwards, and to be open to all hot topics even if it gets awkward.

He says, “You should ask your child what their view is on the economy and abortion and why they came to that conclusion. It’s important to listen to what they have to say and discuss it so they learn how the system works.”
