Hollywood BFFs Speak The Same Language

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Even famous best friends like Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett speak in secret languages.

Just ask Melissa Hellstern, author of Getting Along Famously: A Celebration of Friendship (Dutton), a guide to some of Hollywood’s closest BFFs.

While researching dynamic duos, Hellstern learned that Julie Andrews revealed her first pregnancy to best friend Carol Burnett over a loudspeaker.

Burnett wanted to be the first to hear the big news, so Andrews called her on the set at CBS and told them to broadcast a secret code to her bestie: “The mouse is dead,” which meant she was preggers.

Best friends Marlon Brando and comedian Wally Cox spoke to one another about life until their dying days.

When Cox died in 1973, Brando kept his ashes and would even drive around with them so he could still talk to his pal.

When Brando died, he and Cox’s ashes were scattered together at their favorite hiking destination.

Getting Along Famously, which also profiles the friendship of Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren, hits shelves Thursday (Oct. 23).
