Though conservatives and liberals tend to think the other is nuts, Marty Beckerman, author of Dumbocracy: Adventures with the Loony Left, the Rabid Right, and other American Idiots (Disinformation), says Republicans and Democrats are both insane.
He says, “One extreme wants America to be more like Cuba, the other extreme wants America to be more like Saudi Arabia. I think America should be more like America.”
He says “true believers,” or the crazed supporters of each extreme, are “mentally ill” because they just scream and curse instead of discuss the issues.
Beckerman jokes, “Someone should put Zoloft in their drinking supply.”
He criticizes the extremists for refusing to see “shades of grey,” especially since most Americans are moderate.
He says, “Most Americans don’t care if a gay, married transvestite aborts a baby if they can’t even afford retirement or their kid’s college tuition.”
