‘Jersey Girl’ Fits Right In With The ‘Jersey Boys’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One multi-talented music maven has no problem fitting in with a group of Jersey Boys.

Deborah Hurwitz is a performer, producer, composer, and conductor who’s worked with Sinead O’Connor, Cyndi Lauper, and Cher, among other music legends, throughout her career.

Currently, she’s working as a performer and music tech designer for the Broadway hit Jersey Boys, and she’s holding her own as a girl working on a set ruled by boys.

But at first, Hurwitz didn’t think it’d be so easy.

She braced herself for possible obstacles that she’d encounter as a female musician in the theater world, but realized she didn’t really need her feminist agenda.

Hurwitz learned quickly that the theater industry has an incredibly “high quotient of gay men,” and it’s not your typical hetero male-dominated workplace.

She says, “I’m not getting sexually harassed because I am a woman! Theater guys are great to me.”

Although she dubs Jersey Boys the “straightest show on Broadway,” she says the actors still respect her and her work.

The “Jersey Girl” has a new album, Naked Wire, slated for release around September.
