Plan For Your Future On Father’s Day (Jun. 15)

PLESANTON, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Death can bring your family together this Father’s Day (Jun. 15).

Allen Hamm is the author of Long-Term Care Planning: Assuring Choice, Independence, & Financial Security (Plan Ahead, Inc.), which outlines the options for caring for Dads who fall unexpectedly ill.

Despite the serious and scary prospect of Dad needing ’round-the-clock care, Hamm says, “It’s best to make the whole family aware of the options. The father’s need for care will affect the family more than him.”

Those care options include relying on loved ones, Medicaid, assets, and long-term care insurance.

Though there’s no single, right, long-term care choice, it’s best to research your options early, while you have your health.

He says, “Regardless of age, it’s important to ask yourself, ‘If I had a disability tomorrow, how would it affect everyone?’ We all need to plan ahead.”
