Man Pedals Way To The Record Book

AURORA, Ill. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One biking dynamo has pedaled his way to the record books.

This past Monday (May 12), 50-year-old Aurora, Illinois, resident George Hood broke the Guinness World Record for riding a stationary bike, pedaling for 177 hours, during which he rode 1,991 miles.

Hood rigorously trained for four months in preparation for his marathon ride, conditioning his body to not need sleep.

He also had a little help from some hard-rockin’ tunes to get through the challenge.

He says, “I listened to pumping-up music. Rock music has a good beat to it that helps keep my pace. Any music works though, except classical.”

Though he worked hard for his trophy, burning 46,087 calories along the way, Hood isn’t set on keeping his record.

He explains, “My goal was to get in the book. If someone comes along in a week and breaks my record it’s fine. I’ll still be in the book.”
