Missouri Fest Sends In The Clowns

HOUSTON, Mo. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Wannabe clowns are getting schooled.

The 21st Annual Emmett Kelly Clown Festival will have folks clowning around in Houston, Missouri, on May 2-3.

Attendees will be sporting their big shoes and red noses to participate in a pie eating contest, soap box derby, and even learn the clown trade from professional merrymakers.

The clown school will teach wannabe Bozos how to look and act the part, and teach them skits which they’ll perform in a competition to see who is top of the clown class.

Event organizer Amy Christeson says, “There’s a big demand for the school. I don’t know if it’s a helpful stepping stone to clown college though.”

For those who suffer from Coulrophobia, or the fear of clowns, Christeson says the festival is a great way to overcome the phobia.

She assures, “There are quite a few clowns walking around, but they don’t do anything that scares anyone. And seeing the other side of clowns helps.”
