The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival is May 2-4, and 30,000 people will head to the Louisiana town known as the Crawfish Capital of the World to chow down on 10,000 pounds of crawfish concoctions.
The tasty treats include fried crawfish, crawfish dogs, and crawfish etouffee, and the fest even features non-fishy favorites like alligator-on-a-stick, which spokesperson Dona Degatur Richard says is pretty good, though not as popular as crawfish.
While the festival also features cajun dance performances, a crawfish race, and an eating contest, its the crawfish cook-off that gets people really fired up.
Richard says, Everybodys a great cook down here, especially the men. The prize is only $100, but its mostly for bragging rights. And they take full advantage of that!
