Gallery Pays Tribute To Classic Toys

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Toys from the 80s are totally rad!

Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles is getting nostalgic with their latest exhibit Toys!, which showcases close to 100 original paintings depicting classic toys like Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots, My Little Ponies, and Teddy Ruxpin.

The gallery has also teamed up with Mattel to honor the 40th Anniversary of Hot Wheels by having 40 artists create their own custom design on the toy racers.

According to museum curator Jensen Karp, the exhibit has people appreciating their childhood toys.

He says, “It’s giving people the full experience of remembering. The gallery looks like a children’s playroom, and everyone gives off an ‘Oh man,’ when they see something they remember.”

And Karp has a special love for toys made in the 1980s.

He explains, “Every generation has cool toys, but ours just kicked a. We were able to use our creativity and create full universes for our toys.”

Toys! is open now until April 25.
