‘Monopoly’ Goes Global

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Forget Park Place and Pacific Ave., Monopoly is cashing in its frequent- flyer miles and going global.

To launch Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition, an international version on the classic board game due out later this year, Monopoly maker Hasbro is calling on people to vote online for the cities they want to see grace the game board.

From now until February 28, people can vote on a ballot filled with 68 international hotspots from Amsterdam to Zurich, with the top 20 making the cut.

And for the final two properties, there will be a wild-card vote if you think your remote city deserves some worldwide recognition.

Spokesperson Pat Riso says, “It’s all about how much passion you have for your city. Sheboygan, Wisconsin, mounted a campaign, and Voldendam, a tiny town in the Netherlands, had a launch event to ensure everyone votes!”

But don’t expect Monopoly to ease any international tensions.

Riso says, “It’s all about fun, not so much about politics.”

To vote, go to monopoly.com.
