Bamboo Isn’t Just For Pandas – It’s For Fashion

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Bamboo isn’t just a snack for pandas anymore – it’s now a treat for fashionistas too.

Arcadia Boutique is an eco-friendly clothing store in Philadelphia that offers a line of luxury-knit shirts made out of bamboo.

The Panda Snack shirts come in solids, prints, or blinged-out sequins, and boutique owner Allie McCloud says the eco-attire makes a perfect “green” holiday gift.

Although bamboo may sound itchy to wear, McCloud says it’s a versatile material that’s as soft as cotton.

McCloud says, “When I first heard of bamboo shirts I thought, ‘That sounds like splinters!’ But it’s actually a very luxurious fabric, with a really nice, silky shine to it. People are loving it around here. They’re buying lots of scarves and shirts as holiday gifts!”

And while the eco-fashion may seem like a fit for vegans, vegetarians, and the young, hip, green generation, McCloud says the bamboo shirts could be given to the older folks on your list too.

She explains, “Older people are set on what they want to wear, but giving them a bamboo shirt may teach them about the green fashion efforts. It’ll be just as comfortable as their favorite jersey-knit.”
