The 14th Annual National Yo-Yo Contest spins into Chico, California, on October 5-6, and yo-yo junkies wont be toying around for a win.
According to contest director Thad Winzenz, classic yo-yo tricks like around the world and walk the dog wont cut it in this competition.
He says, Were looking for new moves, innovations never seen before, and perfect technical execution. And how flashy you are while doing them.
Competitors will need to practice hard to string along tough judges, and Winzenz says high-performance spinners like ball- bearing yo-yos which can go for up to $100 are the gold standard for competition.
And its really down to the man behind the toy, and his equipment.
Says Winzenz: Good equipment makes a difference. But its more about the player and a little less about the equipment.
