Ski Resort Looks For Perfect Wind Turbine Name

HANCOCK, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A ski resort in Hancock, Massachusetts, has just spent $3.9 million on a new wind turbine and now they’re hoping to find the perfect name for it.

Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort has been working on a massive wind turbine for their slopes for more than three years, and plan to flip the switch on their giant 253-foot windmill this summer.

The pricey turbine is an effort to conserve energy at the mountain peak, and spokeswoman Betsy Strickler says the turbine deserves a title as grand as its size.

So, the resort is hosting a contest to find the best mill moniker through June 10 on jiminypeak.com, and so far, the competition is looking steep.

Out of about 250 submissions, Strickler’s favorite names are “Everyone Knows It’s Windy” and “The Turbinator,” but she still hopes to get more suggestions.

She says, “You can’t miss the turbine, so we need a name that’s flashy, fun, and easy to remember. We’re giving the winner a bronze turbine statue for their troubles and a season pass to the resort, so the name better be good!”
