Scallywags Walk The Plank At Florida Pirate Fest

FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It will be a pirate’s life for all scallywags in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, this weekend (June 1 - June 4) when the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival cruises into town.

The pirate fest is in its 52nd year and honors the life of pirate Billy Bowlegs, who helped Britain fight for land in the 18th Century.

This year’s festivities will include a treasure hunt where scoundrels and wenches of all ages can search for two prized silver coins worth $2,500, and live music that will be sure to have everyone shaking their booty.

With the summer release of Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, event organizer Gail Waller is hoping for a big turnout at the fest, especially since they’re holding the event down the street from a theater that’s playing the movie.

And while every swashbuckler is invited to dust off their eyepatch and get in on the fun, Waller and her crew extend a special invite to a particular big-screen pirate.

Says Waller: “We’d love for Johnny Depp to come. Everyone’s got a little pirate in them, and we’d love for him and all others to let that pirate out.”
