A splash and dash called the Running of the Tubs has bathers push their porcelain-on-wheels at a race this Saturday (May 12) in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas.
Event coordinator Steve Arrison says racers grab their washcloths and splish down a street called what else? Bathhouse Row, trying to keep at least 10 gallons of water from splashing out of their tub.
Many entrants even pimp their rides, but theres always the risk of washing out.
Arrison says, One group last year used caster wheels. The judges let it slip by, but then it spun out of control.
Luckily, there is a procedure in place this year to screen unusual entrants.
As Arrison puts it, Anybody who thinks they can push a bathtub without wheels needs a moron waiver.
But there are more lathered-up laws where that came from.
Arrison remarks, The rules require each team to have a uniform that includes suspenders and hats.
