Urban Girl Conquers The Great Outdoors

CANADENSIS, Penn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You don’t have to be on Survivor to rough it in the woods.

Take it from Heather Menicucci, author of Let’s Get Primitive: The Urban Girl’s Guide To Camping (Ten Speed Press).

She’s a self-proclaimed “city girl,” who was inspired to write the guide after going on a spontaneous camping trip and realizing her love for the outdoors – despite her city ways.

Now, Menicucci wants other urban girls to learn that camping isn’t “all hardship and work” and can even be relaxing if you plan right.

For example, Menicucci says it’s smart to practice pitching a tent in your backyard before braving the great outdoors so you’re prepared to put up a tent when it counts.

She also suggests bringing along items that make your camping trip more comfortable like bugspray, a water purifier, and hand sanitizer.

She adds, “You don’t have to have a dagger or a lamp stuck to your head to be a good camper. You can wear a skirt and makeup as long as you’re comfortable. Just don’t bring deodorant because a little stinkiness while camping is always a must!”
