Author Mike Berenstain son of Stan and Jan Berenstain has just released a new lesson-filled book titled The Berenstain Bears And The Trouble With Commercials (Harper Festival), which he hopes raises awareness about kids and excessive TV watching.
Berenstain thinks kids are often misled by what they see on commercials and end up begging parents for useless toys or snacks they see advertised.
He says, When I was little I wanted a typical 1950s toy tank I saw on TV. On the commercial, it could knock down huge buildings but once I finally got the toy it wasnt really that cool. It went over a stack of books and broke, thats about it.
To avoid commercial rip-offs like his, Berenstain hopes parents and kids turn off the TV for the week and just play outside instead.
