Placebo Bassist Happy To Be On ‘MEDS’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When your band is named Placebo, you’d think an album titled MEDS would be inevitable.

That’s the opinion of Placebo bassist Stefan Olsdal, who says that even though the band is more than 10 years old, he’s surprised it took this long for them to use that title.

Placebo, whose music has been featured in films like Cruel Intentions and shows like Bones and The O.C. start a U.S. tour tonight (Apr. 5) in Providence, Rhode Island.

Although the band has a fervent fan base, Olsdal jokes that Placebo doesn’t get offered drugs by groupies – or even the sugar pills that inspired the group’s name.

In his words, “I guess if we wanted that, we shouldn’t have called ourselves Placebo.”
