Actor Christopher Kennedy Lawford: ‘I’m A Fish Walking To Bakersfield’

ATLANTA, Ga. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Christopher Kennedy Lawford has made a name for himself as an actor and a writer, but the accomplishment he’s most proud of is being “a fish walking to Bakersfield.”

The son of Rat Pack member Peter Lawford describes himself this way, because he’s managed the rare feat of quitting drugs AND staying clean and sober.

It hasn’t been easy. In 2001, he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, in part, because he exposed himself to many risk factors during his wild days back in the 1970s and 1980s.

Lawford hasn’t had the disease since 2002 and now educates others through the Hep C STAT! (Stop, Test And Treat) campaign, which can be accessed at

He says there are lots of misconceptions about the disease – even with doctors. In fact, he knows one man with Hep C who couldn’t get a dentist to remove a tooth because the doc incorrectly feared he’d contract the disease.

Despite having a rough time with drug addiction in the past, Lawford considers it one of the “great gifts” in his life.

As he puts it, “It gave me awareness, understanding and a cause.”
