‘Fat Camp’ Offering Free Camperships Through Essay Competition

REEDERS, Penn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Millions of American teenagers are obese, but 10 of them will have help losing weight this summer.

New Image Weight Loss Camp – which was made famous in the MTV documentary series Fat Camp – is currently holding an essay contest that will award five guys and five girls with camperships at the Pocono Trails facility in Reeders, Pennsylvania.

Camp director Tony Sparber wants interested applicants to write a 500-word essay titled “New Me, New Image – How New Image Weight Loss Camp Can Change My Life.”

Besides the usual activities like hiking, canoeing and the camp’s famous obstacle course, campers take classes in nutrition and learn how to cook healthy foods.

Sparber says the average camper loses around 10-15 pounds during his or her stay and gains skills that help them stick with the program, including access to personal trainers and nutritionists.
