No ‘Free Ride’ For Idol Wannabe

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Although the ride for wannabe American Idol Rudy Cardenas has ended, he has no regrets for his song choice.

Cardenas, who was blasted by judges Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell for singing the Edgar Winter tune “Free Ride,” says he chose the song for practical reasons.

As he puts it, “I sing it a lot. I love it. I know it like the back of my hand so I knew I could sing it if I was nervous.”

Obviously Cardenas would still like to be on the show, he now has a new goal: Being the only Idol contestant “voted off first who has a big career.”

He hopes to do that with his band, Impact, who he describes a jazz vocal group like Take 6 “but without the Christian undertones.”

In the meantime, he predicts Idol’s sixth season will be stellar because, he points out, “there are lot of true musicians competing.”
