New Rick James Music On The Horizon

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Fans of pioneering punk-funk singer Rick James have reason to “Super Freak” out, because there’s new music on the horizon.

James died in August, 2004, but his estate has only been recently settled. According to the singer’s longtime business manager Ron Kramer, that means the music James was recording before his death will finally see the light of day.

The first ditty will be “Deeper Still,” which will be sent to radio stations in early February and features some Spanish language vocals by singer Ivonne Contreras.

That song will be followed in the spring by an as-yet untitled CD.

But that is just the beginning. Kramer says there is enough material “for a few albums,” and he expects at least one of them will combine the unreleased James jams with work by contemporary artists he influenced.

However, none of those acts will be featured on the upcoming CD. As Kramer puts it, “Rick wanted it to be just him.”
