Pint-Sized Pups Peak In Popularity, Old Pups Hold Ground

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Every dog has his day, and Labrador Retrievers and Yorkshire Terriers are having their year.

The American Kennel Club has just announced its list for the year’s most popular dogs and the Labrador Retriever is the number one purebred dog in America for the 16th year in a row.

Coming in second was the Yorkshire Terrier, which is the first pint-sized underdog since the Boston Terrier to make it so high on the list.

Other pooches that made the cut include the German Shepherd, the Golden Retriever, the Beagl and the Dachshund.

Although the Yorkie barked its way to the top, large breeds still make up 45 percent of the list while smaller “toy dogs” accounted for 23 percent.
