Home Exchange ‘Hook-Ups’ A La ‘The Holiday’ No Joke

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Cameron Diaz’ new film, The Holiday, may be a romantic comedy, but it’s no joke for people who actually do home exchanges.

Helen Bergstein, who runs a home exchange website called, says hook-ups are quite common, such as the lady who celebrated her 60th birthday by doing a home exchange in New Zealand.

The woman hadn’t had sex in nearly 25 years but found the love of her life practically off the plane.

She figures home exchange romances often occur because, as she puts it, “you’re among other locals, and not in a rush like the typical tourist.”

But, frankly, true love isn’t always in the stars. Bergstein was once set up on a date by the folks she exchanged houses with, but things “didn’t click.”

Bergstein admits vacation flings are one benefit of home exchanges but warns, “if you meet someone in a foreign city, they can tell you just about anything that they want.”
