Soup’s On For Competitive Eaters

PUEBLO OF ACOMA, N.M. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The soup’s on for competitive eaters – and there will be plenty to go around.

This Saturday (Nov. 18) marks the Second Annual Posole Eating Competition in Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico, and one competitive eater is ready to devour the competition.

Patrick Bertoletti says he’s planning to eat 14 to 16 pounds of posole – a style of soup popular in New Mexico – in order to win the contest.

Says Bertoletti: “I’m excited because posole is delicious. Hopefully I can save room to eat more of it after the competition.”

Bertoletti insists he’s not worried about losing his love for posole after consuming large amounts.

He adds, “I’m built for competitive eating. I don’t have a taste memory, so I never get sick from eating too much of something.”

Bertoletti believes he has a good shot at the posole title because he’s currently the International Federation of Competitive Eating Ice Cream Champion.

Says Bertoletti: “The posole will be quick like ice cream because there won’t be much chewing involved. Hopefully the soup won’t be ice cold though.”
