Possums And Torture Devices Help Inspire New Xmas Album

PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Artists find inspiration in the strangest places.

For instance, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his musical collaborator Candice Night find it from possums and medieval torture devices.

The duo perform “renaissance rock” under the band name Blackmore’s Night and just finished their upcoming Christmas album, Winter Carols.

Night says she and Blackmore recorded their album in a home studio that looks “like a dungeon that has torture devices on the walls.”

In addition, the house is out in a rural area and Night says some possums stuck their heads in the window during some sessions and provided inspiration to the couple.

Winter Carols will officially be released tomorrow (Nov. 7).
