If youre willing to gamble, that is.
Starting Friday (Sept. 1), the Mount Madonna School, a private school near Santa Cruz, California, will be raffling off a home valued at $1.8 million by selling tickets for $150 apiece.
The house is located three blocks from the beach and is custom-built with hardwood floors and nice stone work.
Only 32,000 tickets will be sold, which makes the odds of winning 1 in 32,000.
Raffle spokesman Neal Martin-Zeavy says the house was donated by some school supporters and the educators decided to hold the raffle rather than sell it outright so that everyone could feel like theyre supporting the school.
Martin-Zeavy expects all the raffle tickets will be sold within three months but says the school board has set May 18, 2007, as the deadline for ticket sales.
