Thats the advice from Michael Beaumier, a former personals editor for a Chicago newspaper.
He says that sarcastic personal ads like Immature Insensitive Single White Male Seeks Dumb, Good-Looking Girl For Meaningless Relationship actually get more responses than ads with a heart-on-the-sleeve approach.
Beaumier says that people, especially women, will assume the sarcastic ad is a joke and want to meet the person who wrote the funny ad.
However, he warns to take a buyer beware approach before answering the ad because theres always the possibility the person is telling the truth.
Beaumier is the author of a new book, I Know Youre Out There: Private Longings, Public Humiliations And Other Tales From The Personals (Three Rivers Press).
