Thats how its worked for a woman in Willmar, Minnesota, who has been the namesake for the Jennie-O turkey company since 1949.
Jennifer Olsen inspired the name of the turkey company when she was 5 and her dad wanted to change the name of his turkey processing plant to something more commercial.
Olsens mom suggested using the name Jennie-O and the name has stuck ever since.
She admits being the real Jennie O. put a lot of pressure on her at Thanksgiving but, thankfully, shes never had any problems cooking a turkey because, in her words, Theyre so easy to prepare.
Thanksgiving is still a few months off but Olsen is using her corporate icon status to help promote time-saving tips for the holiday via a new contest.
Folks who submit the best tips to www.jennieoturkeystore.com will win $10,000 towards a kitchen makeover.
One of her tips: Buying corn now, while its in season, and freezing it. As a result, she says she now has one side dish done and its not even Labor Day.
