Oh Yeah! 9th Annual Kool-Aid Festival Will Make Nebraska’s Weekend Sweet

HASTINGS, Neb. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Oh yeah! The locals in Hastings, Nebraska, will be donning sweet juice mustaches starting Friday (Aug. 11) as the 9th Annual Kool-Aid-Days Festival pours into town.

Randy Kottwitz, executive director of the event says this year will be the biggest Kool-Aid Fest ever, with over 30 events, including a free “Kool-Aid Koncert,”starring international recording artists Richie Havens and Vance Gilbert.

Kool-Aid related activities will include a “Quickest Kool-Aid Drinking” contest where participants will scurry to guzzle down numerous gallons of Kool-Aid.

There will also be a “Kool-Aid Jammers Boat Race,” where kids will make boats out of juice packets and send them floating down a water stream.

The Kool-Aid mascot will be at the festivities, but not bursting through walls as he usually does. As Kottwitz puts it, “The Kool-Aid man will pour the first glass of juice at the World’s Largest Kool-Aid Stand.”

There will be 14 flavors of Kool-Aid served at the festival, but Kottwitz says grape and tropical punch are usually the crowds’ favorite flavors.
