Klingon Community Theater Keeps On Trekking

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A group of Star Trek fans in San Diego are going boldly where the series never went – into an in-depth exploration of the Klingon lifestyle.

Every year at the San Diego Comic-Con, the members of the Imperial Klingon Vessel Stranglehold fan club present an original play – or “Klingon lifestyles presentation.”

Usually about 20 card-carrying Klingons participate and leader Dennis Hanon – who performs as “Admiral K’han Den” – says the group has been rehearsing since November.

This is the 12th year of so-called “Klingon community theater” and Hanon says his character has grown and changed throughout the series – along with its audience: The Stranglehold went from Trekkies-only to one of the most popular Comic-Con attractions.

Sadly, Hanon says no one connected with any of the Star Trek TV shows has ever seen it – even with their standing invitation to any actor who’s ever played a Klingon to join the cast.
