Americans Expect Global Warming Solutions From Absent Government

PRINCETON, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It’s not that Americans don’t believe in the reality of global warming, it’s just that for too long they’ve assumed the government will handle it properly.

That’s the harsh truth says Dr. Michael Oppenheimer, a professor of Geosciences and International Affairs at Princeton University.

Oppenheimer wants to clarify that idea, however, with the notion that enough “big things are starting to happen – that people are noticing the consequences,” and the reality of global warming.

Oppenheimer appears in Sunday’s (July 16) premiere of Tom Brokaw’s Global Warming: What You Need To Know, on the Discovery Channel – and while he is a world-renown expert in advanced sciences, he says he understands the everyday confusion about the phenomenon.

He adds: “We are seeing changes in more people’s views, though. Maybe we’ll get lucky – the future is in our hands if we get on it properly.”
