New Animal Planet Series Not Afraid To Use ‘The C Word’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Expect a little controversy this summer on the Animal Planet network: a new series is using “the C word.”

The C word being “conservation,” of course.

That’s according to Tristan Bayer, who will be hosting Caught In The Moment along with Vanessa Garnick, premiering on the all-animal network July 10.

Bayer says he and Garnick are childhood friends who share more than just a passion for adventure and nature films – but also a willingness to champion wildlife conservation on their show.

According to Bayer, Animal Planet’s programs have until now “shied away from conservation” issues.

Bayer says, “they don’t even use the word,” though he says he’s “not sure if that’s viewer- driven” or a political problem.

In Bayer’s words, “If we can show people both the animals and the people like us who care about them, then it won’t be so preachy.”

Caught In The Moment’s premiere episode goes to Costa Rica’s Turtle Beach, where 150,000 turtles at a time gather on a one-kilometer stretch of beach.
