Female-Fronted Death Metal Trio Ride Metallica’s Lightning

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Death metal has long been the domain of almost exclusively young, white males.

But a new band called Warface is set to change all that.

The death metal trio is fronted by the guitar-playing singer and main songwriter-producer, Laura Christine, who’s being called the genre’s first female guitar hero.

Christine says that while writing, producing and playing the bulk of Warface’s music gains her respect among peers and industry suits, when it comes down to making music, it’s a non-issue.

In her words, “Artistically, the music is gender-less. I’m not getting into my female energy or anything like that when I’m creating or playing this music.”

Warface’s new album is called The Insanity of the Obsessed, and Christine admits that while it sounds like a typically cryptic, death metal title, it also pays homage to her band’s idols.

In her words, “We love Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Pantera – but the band that really got us into this was early Metallica.
