Is Lion-Bear Offspring The New Mickey Mouse?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Mother Nature has inspired lots of kiddie characters – everything from a mouse named Mickey to a bunny named Bugs.

Now a Los Angeles woman hopes to create her own kiddie goldmine with the help of a character who’s half-lion and half-bear.

Lou Stratten is a children’s entertainer who has just published her first book, Hello, I’m Fretterick (Shaggy Creature Productions), which concerns “Fretti,” a happy-go-lucky character whose parents are a lion and a bear.

She hopes it turns into a cash cow, since Fretti is the first children’s character designed to appeal to kids with mixed parents.

As she puts it, “In Los Angeles, there are so many mixed relations and the problems that could arise happen less when you expose them to differences.”

Stratten thought long and hard about which animals to mix together and decided that a lion-bear offspring would be the best because, in her words, “Kids like to sing like lions and bears because they’re strong animals.”

Besides the new book, Fretti appears on Stratten’s self- titled debut CD.
