Thats because May 26 marks the 80th anniversary of the day jazz trumpet legend Miles Davis was born.
Since Davis birthday always falls around Memorial Day, his son, Erin, admits he often thinks about his Dad on that day especially their time on stage.
Erin joined the Davis band when he was 19, and while he was very nervous, his Dad went out of his way to make him as comfortable as possible.
Davis might have played jazz, but one of Erins favorite memories is the time he played some hard rock records and the notoriously prickly musician went out of his way to praise the drummer.
Although Davis has been dead since 1991, Erin, is honoring the anniversary with a new box set, The Miles Davis Quintet: The Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions, hits stores today (May 23).
