AC/DC Enjoys Getting Their Grass Kicked

DEER LICK HOLLAR, Tenn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might not like hearing heavy metal songs done bluegrass style but the members of AC/DC enjoy getting their ’grass kicked.

That’s what John “Barley Scotch” Wheeler has discovered since he first started doing bluegrass covers of metal songs with his band Hayseed Dixie.

He admits some rock fans screamed sacrilege, but AC/DC has enjoyed the Dixie’s renditions of songs like “Highway To Hell” so much that they hired the band to play a barbecue.

As he puts it, “It was kind of weird. We would have done it for free but they insisted on giving us $5000.”

Wheeler is currently promoting the band’s new CD, Hot Piece Of Grass, and is thrilled to have support from AC/DC; but he admits it’s not his main goal.

As he puts it, “My real desire is pleasing the guys who do the sewer pipes. Those are the guys who like our kind of music.”
