Is Pepper Spray the New ‘Black’?

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The designer of a new brand of pepper spray is hoping to make women safer by appealing to their fashion sense.

Mladen Djankoviae, founder of the pepper spray site Pepperface.com, says urban females are the most at-risk demographic for sexual assault.

Although pepper spray could protect many of these ladies, Djankoviae says women are reluctant to carry the bottles because they’re bulky and gaudy.

That’s why Djankoviae thinks women will warm to his safety spray in a trendy container.

The 1.8 ounce “Palm Defender,” which costs $35, has a sleek, metal outer casing similar to a mini Mag Lite and comes in black or purple.

Although the $35 price tag is four times the cost of a regular pepper spray container, Djankoviae says his bottle is more fashionable.

As he puts it, “We’ve converged style and innovation with social responsibility.”
