‘Got Milk?’ Ad Creators Take Pains To Avoid Alienating UFO Freaks

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It sounds spacey but the California Milk Processor Board went to great lengths to avoid alienating UFO buffs from its latest ads in the Got Milk? series.

The ad features a group of aliens who are combing Earth’s cow pastures looking for a “magic white serum” that enhances bone strength, promotes muscle recovery and takes the edge off PMS.

Pat McKay, who co-scripted the newest ad with partner Feh Tarty, says the assignment was to “position milk as a new product, and who has fresher eyes than someone from another planet?”

McKay admits doing market research with extraterrestrials is difficult at best, so the ad men decided to do the next best thing by showing it to the people who most likely know how aliens think: UFO researchers.

Fittingly, the ad premiered last week at a UFO convention in Laughlin, Nevada, and McKay is thrilled with the crowd’s reaction.

In his words, “They were really happy with how the aliens were portrayed.”

Still, McKay jokes that he’s a little nervous the ad will increase his chances of being abducted and claims his writing partner Tarty “is already getting threats.”
