Filmmaker Slaves Over Faux-Documentary About South Winning Civil War

LAWRENCE, Kan. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A filmmaker in Lawrence, Kansas, has spent the last few years slaving over a fake documentary over what might have happened if the South had won the Civil War.

Kevin Willmott is the man behind CSA: The Confederate States Of America, a documentary spoof that takes the real activities of the original Confederate States and extrapolates what might have happened if the leaders hadn’t been defeated by the Union.

For instance, he says that anti-slave forces would have moved to Canada; the CSA would have taken over Mexico and the Caribbean; and Elvis Presley would have discovered rock music from Canadian blacks and been arrested for it.

But while the film is being called a “What if?” he says it’s really a “What is.”

As he puts it, “Although the South lost the Civil War battles, they actually won the hearts and minds of people so that even the people in the North supported segregation.”

CSA is currently making its way across the country and while Willmott expects it will be a hit on DVD, he says the theater is the best place to see it because, as he puts it, “No one knows whether to laugh or not.”
