Pest Control Guru Mixes Business With Pleasure In New Book

NAPLES, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A successful Florida businessman thinks it’s more fun to learn moneymaking principals from books that mix business with pleasure.

That’s why 77-year-old Truly Nolen – who built his pest control business up from $5000 in 1955 to a 70-plus million dollar enterprise today – says he’s sharing his secrets to success in an “adventure business book.”

Nolen has woven a series of business philosophies called “Trulyisms” into his real-life adventure book, Truly Original (Collage Books), which begins with him “sailing away from home” from Miami to Baltimore at the age of 16.

The journey takes readers through several of Nolen’s failed business ventures – like the “old and rotten” cruise boat he purchased at 17 that sank and the flower business that wilted away – to life challenges such as polio and learning parts of the Torah for his Bar Mitzvah when he was 68.

The only event he didn’t include was a sailing trip with Supreme Court judge Sandra Day O’Connor about 35 years ago. He marvels, “God, I forgot about that. She wasn’t famous then.”
