Urban Outfitters Stealing Cupcakes From Kids?

HULL, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Urban Outfitters is now selling T-shirts featuring a jet dropping cupcakes, but one designer is dropping his jaw because he says the design was stolen from him.

Massachusetts-based designer Johnny Cupcakes says he submitted design samples – including a jet releasing four “cupcake bombs” – to the chain store Urban Outfitters about two years ago, but decided against having his clothing in the store.

He says his samples were never returned, and just this week, a friend noticed some new T-shirts bearing Cupcakes’ jet and signature cakes with “Urban Renewal” tags inside.

The designer says, “There’s absolutely no way this is a coincidence” noting that the shirt features “the same jet and the same amount of cupcakes.”

He was even more surprised when he Googled “Urban Outfitters” and “Infringement” and found hundreds of similar cases of designers who were ripped off by the chain.

Cupcakes says, “All I can do is try and spread the word” in hopes that Urban Outfitters will “stop screwing around with younger designers.”
